Chicago Fire Edges Out Vancouver Whitecaps in Thrilling Match
Vancouver, British Columbia – The Chicago Fire FC defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps FC 3-1 in a thrilling match at BC Place on March 23rd, 2025, marking their seventh regular season game of the Major League Soccer season. The game, refereed by Malik Badawi, was a back-and-forth affair.
The match started with an early goal by H. Cuypers for the Chicago Fire in the first minute, but D. Rios equalized for the Whitecaps at the 14th minute. Chicago Fire regained the lead through a goal by P. Zinckernagel in the 62nd minute. In the closing stages, R. Kouame secured the victory for Chicago Fire with a goal in the 90th minute, assisted by M. Haile-Selassie.
Despite the Vancouver Whitecaps dominating possession (57%), Chicago Fire proved more clinical in attack, managing 8 shots (4 on target) compared to the Whitecaps’ 12 shots (2 on target).
