Sporting CP Stages Comeback Victory Over Gil Vicente
Lisbon, May 4, 2025 – Sporting CP secured a 2-1 victory over Gil Vicente in a thrilling Primeira Liga match at Estádio José Alvalade. The game, refereed by Tiago Martins, was a tense affair with six yellow cards issued.
Gil Vicente took the lead early, scoring a penalty through F. Correia in the 26th minute. Sporting CP dominated possession (71%) and had numerous shots (16 shots, 3 on target), but struggled to break down the Gil Vicente defense for much of the game. However, a late surge saw M. Araujo equalize in the 81st minute, before E. Quaresma secured the comeback win in injury time (90th minute).
