Liga Pro: Macará Snatches a Draw in Visit to LDU Quito
In a hard-fought match at the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado in Quito, LDU Quito and Macará drew 1-1 in a game corresponding to matchday 27 of Liga Pro. The home team dominated possession with 51%, while Macará proved more incisive in attack, registering 15 total shots compared to LDU’s 13.
The first half was dominated by LDU, who took the lead in the 20th minute thanks to a penalty converted by J. Medina. Previously, C. Correa of Macará had received a yellow card in the 17th minute. The intensity of the game was reflected in the cautions, with G. F. Allala Menéndez of LDU (43′) and J. Marrufo of Macará (45′) also receiving yellow cards before halftime.
The second half maintained the tone of a contested match, with R. Ade of LDU being booked in the 56th minute and J. Cazares of Macará in the 66th minute. Macará managed to equalize in the 90th minute, thanks to a goal by F. Paz, assisted by M. Juambeltz, unleashing joy among the visiting fans. Despite dominating possession and having 6 shots on target, LDU failed to capitalize on their lead. Macará, with 5 shots on target, seized one of their last opportunities to take a valuable point from Quito. Referee Anthony Diaz showed five yellow cards in total.
