Juventude Stuns Corinthians in Tense Match
Caxias do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul – In a match held at the Estádio Alfredo Jaconi, Juventude defeated Corinthians with a score of two to one. The match, corresponding to matchday 19 of the Brazilian Serie A, was marked by intensity and a high number of cautions.
Juventude opened the scoring in the 27th minute thanks to a goal by Gabriel Taliari, assisted by Marcelo Hermes. From that moment on, the match became even more tense, with constant fouls and yellow cards for both teams. In the first half alone, Juventude accumulated four yellow cards.
Corinthians, who dominated ball possession with 63%, failed to find a way to score. Juventude’s defense proved solid and effective. In the 81st minute, Matheus Babi extended the lead for the home team with a goal assisted by Nene.
When it seemed that Juventude would take a comfortable victory, Corinthians reacted in added time. Matheuzinho scored for the visiting team in the 90th minute, but it was too late. The expulsion of Ángel Romero in the 85th minute further complicated Corinthians’ aspirations.
Despite Corinthians’ higher possession (63% against Juventude’s 37%), the home team was more effective in finishing, converting two of their four shots on goal. Referee Lucas Casagrande had a busy night, showing a total of eleven yellow cards and one red.
