Iceland Crush Azerbaijan at Home in a Match of Total Domination
Reykjavík witnessed a resounding victory for Iceland over Azerbaijan in a World Cup qualifying match held at Laugardalsvöllur. From the opening whistle, Iceland demonstrated its superiority, dominating possession with an impressive 71%.
Despite a relatively restrained first half, with a yellow card for Azerbaijan’s R. Dashdamirov in the 31st minute, Iceland broke the deadlock just before halftime with a goal from V. Palsson, assisted by A. Gudmundsson in the 45th minute.
