Vitória Guimarães Triumphs Over FC St. Gallen in UEFA Europa Conference League Clash
Vitória Guimarães secured a convincing 4-1 victory against FC St. Gallen in a thrilling UEFA Europa Conference League match at the kybunpark in St. Gallen on December 12th, 2024. The Portuguese side dominated possession (53%) and created numerous scoring opportunities, registering 28 shots with 13 on target.
J. Mendes opened the scoring for Guimarães in the 33rd minute, assisted by N. Santos. Before halftime, St. Gallen accumulated two yellow cards, for C. Akolo and A. Vallci. The second half began with a yellow card for Guimarães’ A. Costa, followed by further cautions for the Swiss side: A. Diaby and M. Stevanovic received yellow cards. Gustavo extended Guimarães’ lead in the 58th minute, again assisted by N. Santos. K. Csoboth pulled one back for St. Gallen in the 66th minute, but Guimarães sealed the victory with two more late goals. A. Costa scored the third in the 84th minute, assisted by Kaio Cesar, and Samu added the final goal in the 90th minute. The match concluded with four yellow cards each for both teams, and a final caution for St. Gallen’s goalkeeper, L. Ati Zigi. Despite the loss, St. Gallen managed 10 shots, 4 of which were on target.
