Deportivo Cuenca Silences Olimpico Atahualpa with Convincing Victory
Quito – In a match held at the Olimpico Atahualpa stadium, Deportivo Cuenca secured a significant victory over El Nacional. The game, part of the Placement Group – 2 of the Liga Pro 2025, saw Cuenca impose their game despite El Nacional’s higher ball possession (52% compared to 48%).
The score opened in the 30th minute with a goal by J. Ordoñez, assisted by C. Luna Tobar, giving the visiting team the lead. El Nacional sought to react, generating 17 shots in total, although only 8 found the target. However, the Cuenca defense remained solid.
In the second half, in the 59th minute, C. Luna Tobar extended the lead for Deportivo Cuenca, with an assist from A. Rodriguez. The situation became even more complicated for El Nacional when R. A. Cabezas Briones received a red card in the 80th minute, leaving his team with ten men.
Despite their efforts, El Nacional was unable to reverse the situation. Deportivo Cuenca capitalized on their opportunities, showing effectiveness in front of the goal and defensive solidity.
