Al Shabab defeats Al Taawon in thrilling Buraidah clash
Buraidah, Saudi Arabia – Al Shabab emerged victorious against Al Taawon with a 3-2 win at the Al Taawoun Club Stadium in matchday 21 of the Saudi Pro League. The match, officiated by Faisal Suleiman Al-Balawi of Saudi Arabia, was a rollercoaster of emotions.
Al Shabab took an early lead through Abderrazak Hamdallah’s penalty in the 18th minute. Waleed Hoedt doubled their advantage in the 31st minute, giving Al Shabab a comfortable lead. However, Al Taawon fought back, scoring a goal through Rodrigo Rivas in the 45th minute, just before halftime, after Andrei Girotto was sent off with a red card in the same minute. Al Taawon continued to press and Mohammed Al Mufarrij pulled one back for the home side in the 70th minute. Despite their late efforts, they couldn’t complete the comeback, and Al Shabab secured the victory.
The match was a tense affair, with several yellow cards shown to both teams and a red card for Al Taawon. Al Shabab dominated possession (55%) and had 6 shots (3 on target), while Al Taawon managed 15 shots (5 on target) despite possessing 45% of the ball.
