Al Hussein Edges Past Shabab Al Ahli Dubai in Thrilling AFC Cup Encounter
Amman, Jordan – Al Hussein secured a hard-fought 2-3 victory over Shabab Al Ahli Dubai in a thrilling AFC Cup Group Stage match (Matchday 5) at the Amman International Stadium. Referee Nasrullo Kabirov from Tajikistan oversaw the match, which saw Shabab Al Ahli Dubai dominate possession (60%) and shots (22, 13 on target), but Al Hussein’s clinical finishing proved decisive.
Al Hussein took an early lead with two goals in the first half. Y. Abu Jalbush, assisted by A. Al Quraishi, opened the scoring in the 5th minute, and M. Al Mardi, assisted by E. Haddad, doubled the lead in the 15th minute. Shabab Al Ahli Dubai pulled one back before halftime through S. Azmoun (42nd minute).
Shabab Al Ahli Dubai pushed hard in the second half, but Al Hussein held firm. However, Shabab Al Ahli Dubai managed to score two late goals. Renan scored in the 87th minute, assisted by Y. Al Ghassani, and M. Dabbur added another in the 90th minute, assisted by S. Azmoun.
Despite the loss, Shabab Al Ahli Dubai outshot Al Hussein (22-10), had more possession, and earned more corners (6-3). Al Hussein, however, proved more efficient in front of goal, converting 3 of their 10 shots. Yellow cards were shown to Italo Silva and A. Nasib for Al Hussein and Mateusao for Shabab Al Ahli Dubai.
