Akhmat vs. Zenit: Zenit secures a convincing win in Grozny
Zenit St. Petersburg beat Akhmat Grozny 2-1 on Sunday in a vibrant match at the Akhmat Arena. Goals from Gustavo Mantuan and Mateo Cassierra were enough to secure the win for Zenit, who controlled the pace of the match and took their chances with efficiency.
The first goal of the game came in the 9th minute, when Mantuan finished with precision a precise cross from Cassierra. Zenit continued to dominate the game and extended their lead in the 21st minute, thanks to a shot by Cassierra following a good individual play. Akhmat, for their part, tried to react but could not find the way to the opponent’s goal.
In the second half, Akhmat came out with more intensity and managed to score a goal in the 2nd minute thanks to a goal from Adamov, who took advantage of an assist from Sadulaev. However, Zenit maintained control of the game and did not allow Akhmat to equalize the score.
The match was marred by several cards, including a red card for Akhmat player, Kamilov, in the 90th minute.
Despite Akhmat’s discount, Zenit managed to impose themselves and took the three points, consolidating their position at the top of the Russian Premier League.
