Vila Nova thrashed Chapecoense in an exciting match
Vila Nova triumphed at home on Wednesday against Chapecoense by a resounding 4-2 in a Brazilian Serie B match that had it all: goals, yellow cards and a frenetic pace.
Alesson opened the scoring for the locals in the 4th minute, taking advantage of an assist from Junior Todinho. Alesson himself extended the lead in the 23rd minute, with another assist from E. Davis, who had received a yellow card in the 6th minute.
Vila Nova dominated the first half with 53% possession and 17 shots (7 on target). Chapecoense struggled to create danger, but managed to score a goal at the end of the first half thanks to Rafael Carvalheira.
In the second half, Vila Nova continued to press and Junior Todinho got his goal in the 51st minute, with an assist from Alesson. However, Chapecoense didn’t give up and managed to close the gap with a goal from Victor Caetano in the 89th minute.
The match ended with a 4-2 that reflects Vila Nova’s dominance, who picked up three important points in their fight for promotion. Chapecoense, for their part, will have to improve their performance if they want to fight for a place in the next Serie A.
