SC Freiburg Crushes VfL Osnabrück in German Cup
SC Freiburg showcased their dominance against VfL Osnabrück in the first round of the German Cup, securing a resounding 5-0 victory at the Bremer Brücke in Osnabrück.
The visitors dominated the match from the outset, opening the scoring in the 30th minute with a goal by Lucas Höler, assisted by B. Ogbus. Three minutes later, Vincenzo Grifo extended the lead with a strike following a pass from P. Osterhage.
In the second half, SC Freiburg continued to press and netted three more goals. Johannes Adamu emerged as the star, scoring in the 73rd and 90th minutes, with assists from Höler and N. Hofler respectively. Adamu himself also provided the assist for the visitors’ fourth goal, scored by Höler in the 84th minute.
Despite efforts from the home side, VfL Osnabrück failed to generate any real threat in front of the SC Freiburg goal. The statistics reflect the visitors’ clear superiority, with 51% possession and 15 shots on target, 6 of them finding the back of the net. VfL, on the other hand, only managed 4 shots on target out of 18 attempts.
SC Freiburg advances to the next round of the German Cup with a convincing victory and a standout performance in attack. VfL Osnabrück, meanwhile, will need to bounce back from this defeat and focus on the league.
