Charleroi dominates St. Truiden in a thrilling encounter
St.-Trond, Belgium – Charleroi emerged victorious against St. Truiden on Saturday in a captivating match that ended with a score of 5-1. The visitors were superior for most of the game, scoring four goals in the first half.
The match began at a fast pace, and it didn’t take long for the first goal to come. In the 18th minute, D. Heymans put Charleroi ahead 1-0 from a penalty. Just 12 minutes later, Heymans scored again, this time with a shot inside the box, to extend the lead.
In the 40th minute, St. Truiden had a chance to reduce the deficit, but R. Van Helden received a yellow card for a foul. Charleroi took advantage of the opportunity and scored two more goals in the last five minutes of the first half. First, P. Guiagon scored in the 43rd minute, and shortly after, A. Bernier capped off the scoring spree.
St. Truiden came out strong in the second half but couldn’t find a way to overcome Charleroi’s defense. K. Zahiroleslam managed to narrow the gap in the 61st minute, but Charleroi maintained control of the game.
