Sporting Cristal beats Deportivo Garcilaso in a tight match
Lima, Peru – Sporting Cristal secured a crucial victory in the 11th round of the Peruvian Primera División Clausura tournament, overcoming Deportivo Garcilaso 1-0 in a match played at the Alberto Gallardo Stadium.
The match was characterized by the intensity and fight from both teams. While Sporting Cristal dominated possession with 75%, the visitors did not back down in terms of effort. The first half saw several yellow cards, including those to E. Perleche and C. Diez from Deportivo Garcilaso.
In the second half, Sporting Cristal continued to press for the goal, but it wasn’t until the 81st minute that it finally arrived. An own goal by A. Yovera, after a shot deflected off his body, sealed the victory for the sky-blue team.
Despite the defeat, Deportivo Garcilaso showed great dedication on the field, with a total of 16 fouls committed.
With this win, Sporting Cristal adds three important points to continue fighting for the championship, while Deportivo Garcilaso will have to make up for it in the coming rounds.
