Cesena edges Spezia in a tight match
La Spezia, Italy – Cesena emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over Spezia in a closely contested match at the Stadio Alberto Picco.
Cesena controlled possession (54%) and had more goal-scoring opportunities with 14 shots (6 on target), but Spezia kept the game competitive with a strong defense.
The opening goal came early in the match, in the 5th minute, courtesy of T. Berti, who capitalized on a pass from D. Donnarumma to score. Spezia attempted to respond but S. Bastoni had a goal ruled out by VAR in the 27th minute.
In the second half, Spezia rallied with a tactical shift and began to put more pressure on Cesena. Although Cesena picked up two yellow cards in the opening minutes of the second half, the team maintained their lead.
Spezia finally managed to score in the 84th minute with a goal from E. Soleri, but their joy was short-lived as N. Bertola scored the winning goal for Cesena in the 90th minute.
