Slavia Praha Crushes Union St. Gilloise in a Thrilling Match
Prague, August 7, 2024 – Slavia Praha secured a convincing 4-1 victory over Union St. Gilloise in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round, played at the Fortuna Arena in Prague.
Slavia’s dominance was evident from the outset, with goals from Tomáš Chory in the 19th and 41st minutes. The intensity of the match increased in the second half, with Osman Dorley scoring for Slavia in the 57th minute before Union St. Gilloise pulled one back in the 73rd minute with an own goal from Adam Buzek. However, Slavia maintained control of the game and secured the victory.
The match was marked by the sending off of Mohammed Fuseini in the 85th minute for a red card, after a foul on a Slavia player. Union St. Gilloise also received a series of yellow cards in the second half, while Slavia received only one yellow.
Despite the result, Union St. Gilloise showed good play at times. However, Slavia was more effective in attack and made the most of their chances. The victory gives Slavia Praha qualification to the next round of the UEFA Champions League.
