Sint Maarten edges out Aruba in tight contest
Sint Maarten claimed a 2-0 victory over Aruba in a League B CONCACAF Nations League match at the Estadio Centroamericano de Mayagüez in Mayagüez. The game was a tight affair, with Sint Maarten dominating possession (56%) and creating more scoring opportunities (20 total shots, 9 on target).
Aruba defended resolutely and had their own chances to score, but they couldn’t convert any of them.
The first goal came in the 81st minute, when G. Lake capitalized on an Aruba defensive lapse to score. Sint Maarten sealed the deal in the 90th minute with a goal from an unidentified player.
Despite the loss, Aruba had some good individual performances, but couldn’t overcome Sint Maarten’s strong defensive display.
