San Lorenzo defeats Talleres in a close match
San Lorenzo beat Talleres de Córdoba 2-0 in a match played at the Estadio Pedro Bidegaín in Capital Federal, Argentina, corresponding to the 12th round of the second phase of the 2024 Argentine Professional League.
The match started with a high tempo and both teams had chances to score. Talleres dominated possession (62%), but couldn’t convert their chances. San Lorenzo, on the other hand, made better use of their opportunities and opened the scoring in the 36th minute with a goal by Agustín Cuello, assisted by Nicolás Tripichio.
In the second half, Talleres tried to react but found a San Lorenzo well-positioned in defense. The Boedo team extended their lead in the 77th minute with a goal by Ezequiel Irala, assisted by Iván Leguizamón.
The match was interrupted by several fouls, and both teams received two yellow cards. Talleres saw Matías Portillo and Ulises Ortegoza cautioned, while San Lorenzo received yellow cards for Jorge Romana and Sebastián Sosa.
San Lorenzo, with this victory, consolidates itself in the upper part of the table, while Talleres will have to raise their heads to continue fighting.
