Lyon dismantles Rangers in thrilling match
Lyon dominated Rangers in a Europa League match played at Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow. The French side took the victory by a resounding 5-1, with a brace from Alexandre Lacazette and a hat-trick from Moussa Fofana.
The game started at a frenetic pace with both teams looking for the goal from the start. Lyon opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a goal from Moussa Fofana, assisted by Rayan Cherki. However, Rangers were not intimidated and equalised the match in the 14th minute with a goal from Todd Lawrence, assisted by Cyriel Dessers.
The second half of the match was dominated by Lyon, who scored four unanswered goals. Lacazette found the back of the net again in the 19th minute, and Fofana completed his hat-trick with goals in the 45th and 55th minutes.
Lyon dominated possession of the ball (55% to Rangers’ 45%) and had more shots on goal (8 to 5). Rangers tried to react, but the French defence was very solid.
The match was marked by the sending off of James Tavernier in the 65th minute and the sending off of Glen Kamara in the 76th minute. Lyon took advantage of their numerical superiority to close out the game.
