Qarabag and Malmo FF draw in an exciting match
Baku, Azerbaijan. – Qarabag and Malmo FF drew 2-2 in a vibrant match on the second day of the UEFA Europa League group stage. The match was played at the Tofiq Bəhramov adına Respublika stadionu in Baku under the direction of Greek referee Anastasios Papapetrou.
Qarabag started the match with an intense pace and opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a goal from Juninho, assisted by A. Zoubir. However, Malmo FF managed to equalize just four minutes later thanks to a goal from E. Botheim, assisted by Busanello.
The second half started with a similar pace, and Malmo FF took the lead in the 47th minute thanks to another goal from E. Botheim, this time with an assist from L. B. Johnsen. Qarabag pressed in search of the equalizer, but Malmo FF managed to hold onto their lead until the 59th minute, when Juninho had the chance to equalize again, but his goal was disallowed for offside.
The final minutes of the match were tense, with both teams looking for the winning goal. Finally, Qarabag managed to equalize in the 90th minute, although the match did not give more time to find a winner.
Qarabag dominated possession of the ball (54%) and shot 11 times on goal (one of them on target), while Malmo FF had 46% possession and shot 9 times (5 on goal). Both teams had a large number of goal scoring opportunities, but the match ended in a draw that leaves the group standings very open.
