Gillingham edges out Morecambe in a tight affair
Gillingham secured a 1-0 victory over Morecambe in a closely contested match at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium on Saturday.
The match was characterized by strong defensive displays from both sides, but Gillingham found the winning goal in the 76th minute through G. Lapslie, who converted a pass from J. Clarke.
Morecambe tried to rally in the final minutes but couldn’t find a way to score. Gillingham, meanwhile, enjoyed more possession (51% vs. 49%) and created more scoring opportunities (11 vs. 7).
The game also saw a couple of yellow cards. R. Hutton of Gillingham received a yellow card in the 65th minute, while G. Lapslie picked up his in the 85th minute.
This victory puts Gillingham in the upper reaches of the League Two standings, while Morecambe will be looking for a better result in their next match.
