Lanús and LDU Quito met in an exciting match with a victory for the Granate
Lanús, Argentina – Lanús and LDU Quito faced off in a vibrant match for the first leg of the Round of 16 of the CONMEBOL Sudamericana. The Granate won 3-1 in a match that was marked by intensity and controversy.
The match began with an early goal by W. Bou for Lanús in the 9th minute, but LDU Quito managed to tie the match in the 37th minute with a goal by A. Arce.
Lanús had the chance to increase the lead in the second half, but a goal by W. Bou was disallowed for offside in the 60th minute. However, the Granate regained the lead in the 78th minute with a goal by C. Izquierdoz, assisted by Marcelino Moreno.
Finally, Lanús closed the scoring with a goal by L. Acosta in the 90th minute, also assisted by Marcelino Moreno.
LDU Quito had more possession of the ball (59%) and generated more scoring chances (9 shots, 4 on target), but Lanús was more effective in converting.
The match was marked by controversy, with two yellow cards for Lanús (D. Aquino, N. Morgantini) and three for LDU Quito (L. Piovi, Jhojan Julio, L. Estupinan).
The second leg will be played next Tuesday, August 28th at the Rodrigo Paz Delgado Stadium in Quito.
