Junior beat Santa Fe in an emotional game
Barranquilla, Colombia. Junior de Barranquilla defeated Santa Fe this Sunday in a game marked by intensity and controversy, with a final score of 2-1. The “Shark” team dominated possession of the ball for much of the game (78%), but had to row against the current at times.
The game started with an intense pace, and in the 26th minute, both teams saw their players, Michael Ortiz and Andrés Colorado, respectively, receive a yellow card. One minute later, Santa Fe took the lead with a goal from Édison López, who received a pass from Hugo Rodallega. Santa Fe’s goal unleashed Junior’s fury, who went on the attack looking for the equalizer.
In the second half, Junior, with a more aggressive game, managed to turn the score around. In the 79th minute, Sergio Rodríguez scored from a penalty to tie the game at 1-1, after a foul in the box. And just 3 minutes later, Rodríguez scored again, this time from a free kick, to seal the “Shark” team’s victory.
Santa Fe, for its part, was affected by the red card shown to Édison López (in the 57th minute) and several players received yellow cards, which prevented them from deploying their game in a fluid way.
In the end, Junior took the victory in an exciting game that left fans of both teams with a taste of frustration and satisfaction at the same time.
