Huachipato edges out O’Higgins in a tight encounter
Huachipato secured a narrow victory over O’Higgins in a match played at the Estadio CAP in Talcahuano. The only goal of the game came in the 1st minute through B. Palmezano, who received a pass from T. Vecino to open the scoring.
The match was marked by intensity and the fight for ball control, with O’Higgins dominating possession (59%) but Huachipato making better use of goal scoring opportunities (6 shots, 1 on target).
The visiting team suffered the expulsion of C. Castillo in the 5th minute for a yellow card. Throughout the game, O’Higgins accumulated a total of 4 yellow cards (C. Castillo, J. Diaz, C. Moya and J. Fuentes), while Huachipato received only one yellow card, which went to R. Malanca in the 82nd minute.
Despite the possession advantage, O’Higgins failed to generate danger in the opponent’s goal and could only register 2 shots on target. Huachipato, for its part, showed greater attacking force, although it could not extend the lead on the scoreboard.
The victory allows Huachipato to climb positions in the Chilean Primera División table, while O’Higgins will have to work to recover ground in the next round.
