Grimsby defeats Cheltenham in a hard-fought match
Grimsby Town defeated Cheltenham Town 4-1 in a League Two match played at Blundell Park in Cleethorpes.
The match began at a slow pace, but the intensity increased in the second half. Grimsby opened the scoring in the 44th minute with a goal from John Davies, assisted by Charles Vernam. Vernam then scored the second goal for Grimsby in the 51st minute, following an assist from Emmanuel Khouri.
Cheltenham responded with a goal from Liam Young in the 61st minute, but efforts to equalize were in vain. Davies scored his second goal of the match in the 90th minute to seal the victory for Grimsby.
