Galatasaray beats Fenerbahçe in a tense encounter
Galatasaray defeated Fenerbahçe 2-0 in an exciting match on the sixth round of the Süper Lig, played at the Ülker Stadyumu Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saracoğlu Spor Kompleksi in Istanbul.
The match was marked by intensity and tension from the start. In the 5th minute, Fenerbahçe’s Mert Hakan Yandaş received a yellow card. Galatasaray opened the scoring in the 20th minute with an own goal by Dominik Livaković, assisted by no one. Galatasaray’s joy multiplied in the 28th minute when Dries Mertens scored a normal goal, assisted by Victor Osimhen.
Fenerbahçe tried to react, but Galatasaray controlled the match effectively. The visiting team received three yellow cards in the first half: Yunus Akgün (30′), Davinson Sánchez (36′), and Kaan Ayhan (43′).
Galatasaray remained strong in the second half, maintaining the lead until the end. Fenerbahçe had 56% possession and shot 24 times on goal, but only 10 shots were on target. Galatasaray, with 44% possession, shot 13 times on goal, of which 6 were on target.
With this victory, Galatasaray is positioned as the leader of the Süper Lig with 18 points, while Fenerbahçe remains with 12 points.
