Akron beats FC Rostov in a match dominated by efficiency
Akron emerged victorious in their away game against FC Rostov in the tenth round of the Russian Premier League. Goals from Benchimol and Dzyuba in the first half were enough to secure three points despite a higher possession of the ball by the home side.
FC Rostov controlled the match from the start, holding 58% possession and firing 16 shots, but only 3 of them found the target. However, Akron proved more effective with their opportunities, scoring two goals in the first half. The first came in the 5th minute thanks to Benchimol, who took advantage of an assist from Danilin to open the scoring. Dzyuba extended the lead in the 32nd minute with a goal that was also assisted by Loncar.
Despite FC Rostov’s efforts, who tried to close the gap with a greater control of the ball, Akron defended their lead solidly. The victory consolidates Akron’s position in the Premier League standings, while FC Rostov continues to search for their rhythm this season.
