Estoril defeats Nacional in a controversial match
Estoril Praia secured an important victory against Nacional in round 5 of the Primeira Liga, in a match marked by the sending off of a visiting player and Nacional’s lack of finishing. The match was played at Estádio António Coimbra da Mota in Estoril, under the direction of Portuguese referee Bruno Vieira.
Estoril took the lead in the 19th minute with a goal from Joao Carvalho, without an assist. Nacional tried to react, but their lack of accuracy in attack prevented them from equalizing.
In the second half, Nacional suffered the sending off of Ulisses in the 66th minute for a foul on an Estoril player. Despite being a man down, Nacional continued to look for an equalizer, but they failed to create any danger in the local team’s goal.
Estoril, on the other hand, took advantage of their numerical superiority to control the game and obtain an important victory in their journey through the Primeira Liga.
