Morocco U23 thrash Egypt U23 in the third place playoff
Nantes, France – Morocco U23 completely dominated Egypt U23 in the third-place playoff of the men’s Olympic football tournament, winning convincingly 7-0. The match was played on Wednesday at the Stade de la Beaujoire – Louis Fonteneau in Nantes, with Espen Eskas from Norway as the referee.
From the start, Morocco displayed dynamic and effective football, with 47% possession and nine shots on goal. The first goal came in the 23rd minute, scored by Abde Ezzalzouli, who was assisted by Ziad El Ouahdi. Two minutes later, Soufiane Rahimi doubled the lead after an assist from Ezzalzouli.
In the second half, Morocco continued to press and scored three goals in just ten minutes. Bilal El Khannouss scored the third in the 51st minute, assisted by Oussama Targhalline, while Rahimi scored his second goal in the 64th minute, with an assist from Ilias Akhomach. In the 73rd minute, Anass Nakach completed the rout after receiving a pass from Rahimi.
Achraf Hakimi’s goals in the 87th minute and the last goal in the Egyptian team’s own net only served to increase the humiliation for the Africans, who were unable to find a way to score at any time.
