Goa beats East Bengal in a thrilling encounter
Goa secured a thrilling victory over East Bengal in the third round of the Indian Super League. The match, played at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium in Kolkata, India, ended with a 4-2 scoreline in favor of Goa.
The first goal of the match came in the 13th minute, courtesy of B. Herrera, who capitalized on an assist to open the scoring. Just seven minutes later, Herrera struck again, this time with the assist from B. Singh, to put Goa 2-0 up. However, East Bengal refused to give up and managed to pull one back in the 29th minute with a penalty converted by M. Talal.
The match became more intense in the second half, with both sides seeking victory. Goa, however, managed to extend their lead in the 71st minute with another goal from B. Herrera, this time assisted by U. Singh. East Bengal responded with a goal from D. Lalhlansanga in the 85th minute, but it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat.
Despite the win, Goa finished the match with one player down due to the sending off of C. McHugh in the 81st minute.
