Deportivo Pasto edges out Alianza Petrolera in a closely fought contest
Deportivo Pasto secured a narrow victory over Alianza Petrolera at the Estadio Departamental Libertad in San Juan de Pasto. The only goal of the match came in the 57th minute, courtesy of Dayro Moreno, who capitalized on a pass from Richard Vanegas to give the home side the win.
The match was a closely contested affair, with both teams creating opportunities throughout the game. While Alianza Petrolera enjoyed slightly more possession with 54% compared to Pasto’s 46%, the latter proved more clinical in front of goal, generating 17 shots to Alianza Petrolera’s 10. However, only one of Pasto’s shots was on target, compared to three for Alianza Petrolera.
The game was punctuated by numerous fouls and yellow cards. A total of 25 fouls were committed, 14 by Deportivo Pasto and 11 by Alianza Petrolera. Both teams also saw four players each cautioned for disciplinary offenses.
Despite the slender margin of victory, Deportivo Pasto demonstrated their superiority on the pitch, controlling the tempo of the game and securing a well-deserved win against a spirited Alianza Petrolera side.
