Charleroi edges out Kortrijk in a low-scoring affair
Charleroi secured a 1-0 victory over Kortrijk thanks to a solitary goal from D. Heymans in the 10th minute, in a match where possession and chances were scarce.
The hosts dominated possession with a 67% share, attempting to dictate the pace of the game, but failed to translate this into clear-cut scoring opportunities. Kortrijk opted for a defensive approach and looked to hit on the counter, but they too were unable to seriously threaten the opposition goalkeeper.
The first half lacked tempo and intensity, with few chances for either side. The only exception was D. Heymans’ goal, who capitalized on a fine assist from A. Zorgane to put his team ahead.
The second half continued in a similar vein to the first. Charleroi tried to extend their lead, but Kortrijk defended resolutely and prevented the hosts from getting close to their goal.
In the closing stages of the match, Kortrijk were forced to take more risks, but they couldn’t find a way through to the goal. Ultimately, Charleroi secured a 1-0 win in a game that won’t be remembered for its footballing quality.
