Cercle Brugge thrashed FC St. Gallen in a back-and-forth match
Brugge, Belgium – Cercle Brugge secured a resounding 7-2 victory over FC St. Gallen in the opening match of the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage, played at the Jan Breydelstadion.
The Belgian side dominated the game from the outset, scoring four goals in the first half. A. Minda opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, K. Denkey netted two consecutive goals in the 26th and 43rd minutes, and G. Magnee added a fourth goal in the 63rd minute.
FC St. Gallen attempted to fight back in the second half, but Cercle Brugge continued their dominance and added three more goals. K. Denkey converted a penalty in the 54th minute, G. Magnee scored his second goal in the 68th minute, and K. Denkey completed his hat-trick in the 70th minute.
FC St. Gallen managed to score two goals in the latter stages of the match, with K. Csoboth finding the back of the net in the 58th minute and F. Mambimbi scoring in the 81st minute, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the defeat.
The game was played with intensity and was highly entertaining, featuring numerous goal-scoring opportunities for both teams. Cercle Brugge proved much more effective in front of goal and displayed a great attacking prowess.
