Southampton Crushes Cardiff in League Cup Second Round

Southampton secured a resounding 7-1 victory over Cardiff City in the second round of the League Cup, showcasing their dominance in a match that saw the visitors take control from the outset.

Cardiff tried to react and managed to pull one back in the 21st minute with a goal from R. Colwill, assisted by M. Reindorf. However, the goal only served to increase the frustration for the home side, who suffered another blow in the 48th minute with an own goal from R. Edwards.

The second half continued with the same trend. C. Archer scored twice in quick succession (minutes 55 and 90), the second with an assist from T. Dibling, to seal the victory. Southampton took full advantage of the situation to finalize the match with goals from J. Bree (90′) and C. Archer (90′).
