Panathinaikos crushes Botev Plovdiv in UEFA Europa League qualifier
Plovdiv, Bulgaria – Greek side Panathinaikos achieved a resounding 4-0 victory over Bulgarian team Botev Plovdiv in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round. The match took place at the Stadion Hristo Botev in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and was officiated by German referee Daniel Schlager.
Panathinaikos began the encounter with great intensity and opened the scoring in the 6th minute with a goal from A. Jeremejeff, assisted by F. Mladenovic. Jeremejeff himself extended the lead in the 50th minute, this time with an assist from G. Kotsiras.
Botev Plovdiv, on the other hand, had a challenging match. The Bulgarian team received four yellow cards during the encounter, unable to create any danger in the opponent’s penalty area. Panathinaikos took care of adding two more goals to their tally. An own goal by A. Ujah in the 34th minute and a goal by F. Djuricic in the 45th minute, sealed the Greek victory.
Panathinaikos showed superiority in all aspects of the game, demonstrating great effectiveness in front of goal and complete control of the match. Botev Plovdiv, meanwhile, will need to significantly improve their performance in the return leg if they want to have any chance of qualifying.
