Flamengo edges past Bolívar in a tense back-and-forth match
Flamengo emerged victorious with a 0-1 win over Bolívar in an exciting first leg match of the Copa Libertadores Round of 16. The game was played at the Hernando Siles stadium in La Paz and was marked by the intensity and fight from both teams.
In the 57th minute, Bruno Savio broke the deadlock for Bolívar with a stunning goal, assisted by Fabio Gomes, leaving the Flamengo fans stunned. However, the Brazilian team didn’t give up and pressed hard for an equalizer.
The match was filled with tension and yellow cards: Flamengo received two yellow cards, one for N. de la Cruz in the 28th minute and another for Gerson in the 61st. Bolívar also saw several cards, including a yellow for Anderson Jesus in the 47th minute and another for Bruno Savio in the 90th, as well as a red card for Anderson Jesus in the 89th minute.
Despite Flamengo’s efforts, the scoreline remained unchanged and Bolívar secured a home victory. The return leg will be played at the Maracaná stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
