Dender beats Beerschot Wilrijk in a thrilling encounter
Antwerp, August 31, 2024 – Dender secured a hard-fought victory over Beerschot Wilrijk at the Olympic Stadium in the sixth round of the Jupiler Pro League. The final score was 2-1, with Dender dominating the first half and Beerschot Wilrijk attempting a comeback in the second half.
The match started at a frenetic pace. Dender opened the scoring in the second minute with a goal from D. Hrncar, following a well-placed assist. In the 12th minute, B. Nsimba extended the Dender lead, this time from the penalty spot. Beerschot Wilrijk tried to react, but couldn’t find a way to overcome the Dender’s solid defense.
After the break, Beerschot Wilrijk came out with more determination and finally managed to reduce the deficit in the 71st minute, thanks to a penalty goal from H. Matthys. Despite Beerschot Wilrijk’s attempts, Dender held firm and secured the victory.
