Atlético Mineiro edges past San Lorenzo in a tense encounter
Belo Horizonte, Brazil – Atlético Mineiro narrowly defeated San Lorenzo in a thrilling second leg of the CONMEBOL Libertadores Round of 16. The only goal of the match came in the 65th minute, courtesy of Rodrigo Battaglia, assisted by Gustavo Scarpa.
The match was characterized by intensity and a midfield battle. Atlético Mineiro controlled possession (64%), but San Lorenzo responded with more shots (12 vs 8). However, the Argentine team lacked the necessary precision to overcome the strong Brazilian defense.
