Zamalek Mounts Comeback to Defeat Smouha in Egyptian Cup Quarter-Finals
Zamalek SC secured a thrilling 4-2 victory over Smouha SC in the Egyptian Cup quarter-finals, played at the Cairo International Stadium on March 15th, 2025. The match, held in Cairo, was a vibrant encounter with goals from both sides.
Smouha started strongly, taking a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from M. Mostafa (25′) and M. Salim (45′), both assisted by A. Amer. However, Zamalek responded forcefully in the second half. An own goal by B. Haggag (59′) paved the way for the comeback, followed by a goal from M. Bentayg (62′) that leveled the score. Finally, goals from M. Shalaby (90′) and S. Jaziri (12′) sealed the victory for Zamalek.
Despite the win, Zamalek had two players cautioned (M. Bentayg and M. Shalaby), while Smouha accumulated three yellow cards. Zamalek dominated possession (63%) and had more shots (16 to 8), although both teams had a similar shot accuracy.
