Lubin, Poland – A game full of unexpected twists and controversy unfolded at the KGHM Zaglebie Arena this Sunday, where Zaglebie Lubin and Legia Warszawa drew in a match corresponding to matchday 12 of the Ekstraklasa. Despite dominating possession of the ball with 65%, Legia failed to capitalize on its numerical superiority in shots on goal.
The scoring opened in the 32nd minute with an own goal by K. Piatkowski, giving Zaglebie the initial lead. Just before halftime, Piatkowski went from villain to martyr by receiving a red card, leaving Legia with ten men. In added time of the first half, L. Rocha extended Zaglebie’s lead via a penalty.
Legia returned from the break with a renewed fighting spirit, finding a fortunate own goal by K. Szmyt in the 53rd minute that restored their hope. Despite the numerical disadvantage, Legia maintained pressure and sought the equalizer with determination. Tension increased in the final minutes, and just when it seemed Zaglebie would take the victory, J. Sypek scored in the 90th minute, sealing the final draw. The match ended with 35% possession for Zaglebie Lubin and 65% for Legia Warszawa.
