WSG Wattens Edges SCR Altach in Tense Innsbruck Encounter
WSG Wattens secured a 1-0 victory over SCR Altach in a tightly contested match at the Tivoli Stadion Tirol in Innsbruck. The game, part of the Austrian Bundesliga relegation round, fifth round, was officiated by Isa Simsek.
V. Muller’s goal in the 35th minute, assisted by S. Skrbo, proved to be the difference. SCR Altach controlled possession (62% to WSG Wattens’ 38%), and had more shots (12 to 10), but lacked the cutting edge in front of goal. Wattens were more clinical, managing 4 shots on target compared to Altach’s 2.
The match was a feisty affair, with a total of 22 fouls committed (10 by WSG Wattens and 12 by SCR Altach). Six yellow cards were shown, three to each side, reflecting the intensity of the encounter. Despite Altach’s dominance in possession and shots, Wattens’ defensive resilience and efficiency in front of goal secured them the win.
