Wales thrashes Iceland in a thrilling match in Cardiff
Wales convincingly defeated Iceland 4-1 in a UEFA Nations League match played at the Cardiff City Stadium on November 19th, 2024. The match, refereed by Antonio Nobre from Portugal, was characterized by Wales’ superior possession (60%) and shots on target (15 shots, 10 on goal).
Iceland took the early lead in the 8th minute with a goal from A. Gudjohnsen, assisted by O. Oskarsson. However, Wales responded strongly. L. Cullen scored two goals (minutes 32 and 45), both assisted by B. Johnson and D. James respectively. In the second half, B. Johnson extended Wales’ lead in the 65th minute, assisted by L. Cullen, and H. Wilson sealed the victory in the 79th minute.
