AVS Secures Away Victory in Thrilling Encounter at Caldas de Vizela
Caldas de Vizela, Portugal – In a hard-fought match at the Estádio Do Vizela, AVS secured a valuable victory over Vizela, in a game corresponding to the relegation round of the Primeira Liga. The match, refereed by Miguel Nogueira, was marked by intensity and constant battling in midfield.
Vizela dominated possession with an impressive 74%, translating into 19 shots, although only 4 of them found their way on target. Their territorial dominance was also reflected in the 11 corners they earned. However, AVS’s effectiveness was key to the final result.
The first goal of the match came early, in the 14th minute, when an unfortunate own goal by F. Fonseca put AVS ahead. Later, in the 38th minute, Tunde Akinsola extended the lead for the visitors, assisted by J. Mercado. The first half concluded with a series of yellow cards for AVS players.
The second half began with a goal disallowed for AVS by VAR decision. However, G. A. Assuncao managed to score for AVS in the 65th minute, again with an assist from J. Mercado. Vizela reacted and reduced the deficit in the 78th minute through a penalty converted by H. Morschel.
Despite territorial dominance and a greater number of shots, Vizela failed to convert their opportunities. AVS, with 26% possession and 10 shots (5 on target), proved to be more effective in attack, capitalizing on their chances and taking all three points home. The match culminated in a total of six yellow cards, two for Vizela and four for AVS, reflecting the intensity and contention that was experienced on the field.
