Yokohama FC Secures Narrow Victory in Kobe Match
Kobe, Japan – Despite Vissel Kobe dominating possession (62%), Yokohama FC managed to secure a narrow victory with a late goal in the 90th minute. The match, part of the J1 League’s Round 26 and played at the NOEVIR Stadium Kobe, was officiated by Akihiko Ikeuchi.
Despite their territorial dominance and more goal-scoring opportunities (16 total shots, compared to Yokohama FC’s 5), Vissel Kobe failed to convert their chances. Only 3 of their 16 shots were on target. Yokohama FC, on the other hand, proved more effective, although they only managed one shot on target, which ultimately resulted in S. Ito’s winning goal, assisted by S. Sakuragawa, who had previously received a yellow card.
The match was characterized by intense play, with a total of 22 fouls committed (9 by Vissel Kobe and 13 by Yokohama FC) and three yellow cards shown: one to H. Ide of Vissel Kobe, and two to H. Ogura and S. Sakuragawa of Yokohama FC. Although Vissel Kobe generated more corners (5 compared to 3), they could not capitalize on them on the scoreboard. Yokohama FC, with a ball possession of 38%, demonstrated effectiveness and defensive solidity to maintain the result until the end.
