Vissel Kobe Cruises to Victory Over Gwangju FC in AFC Champions League
Kobe, Japan – Vissel Kobe secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Gwangju FC in the Round of 16 of the AFC Champions League at NOEVIR Stadium Kobe on Tuesday, March 5th. The match, officiated by Adel Al Naqbi of the United Arab Emirates, was characterized by the home team’s clinical finishing.
Yūya Osako opened the scoring in the 20th minute, sparking jubilation amongst the home supporters. Nine minutes later, Hotaru Ide doubled the lead, assisted by Osako. Despite Gwangju FC enjoying slightly more possession (52% to 48%), their inability to test the Vissel Kobe goalkeeper, with zero shots on target, proved costly. Vissel Kobe managed 11 shots, 4 of which were on target. Osako received a yellow card in the 13th minute, while Jin Si-woo received one for Gwangju FC in the 79th minute. The match was played at a good tempo, though with a combined total of 26 fouls. Vissel Kobe’s 2-0 win sends them through to the next round of the competition.
