Vila Nova Edges Ituano in Thrilling Serie B Match
Goiânia, Goiás – Vila Nova secured a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Ituano in a thrilling Serie B match at Estádio Onésio Brasileiro Alvarenga. The game, part of the 2024 Serie B, Round 37, was a back-and-forth affair with both teams trading blows throughout.
Vila Nova took the lead through Alesson in the 18th minute, assisted by Junior Todinho. Luciano Naninho doubled the advantage in the 34th minute, with Alesson providing the assist. Ituano responded with goals from Jose Aldo (6th minute, assisted by Gabriel Falcao) and Leozinho (37th minute, assisted by Gabriel Falcao), levelling the score at 2-2 before halftime.
In the second half, Jemmes put Vila Nova back in front with a goal in the 56th minute, assisted by Luciano Naninho. Ituano equalized again through Salatiel’s goal in the 84th minute (assisted by Jose Aldo). However, Vinicius Paiva scored in injury time (90th minute) to secure the victory for Vila Nova.
The match was characterized by a high number of yellow cards, with Vila Nova receiving 5 and Ituano 6. Both teams enjoyed similar possession (around 50%), although Ituano had more shots on goal (17 to 9).
