The home side dominated possession (65%) and were more clinical in front of goal, despite Union Berlin having more shots (14 to 7). Stuttgart’s dominance was particularly evident in the second half, after an early goal for Union Berlin by Doekhi in the 37th minute. Woltemade, with a brace (51st and 59th minutes), and Karazor (69th minute) secured the victory for Stuttgart. The second half saw a flurry of yellow cards for Union Berlin, with five players booked in the final minutes. Mittelstadt (Stuttgart) and Ronnow (Union Berlin) received yellow cards in the first half. The referee was Tobias Welz.
