Venezuela Edges Out Peru in Tense World Cup Qualifier
Maturín, Venezuela – Venezuela secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Peru in a fiercely contested match of the South American World Cup Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. The game, played at the Estadio Monumental de Maturín on March 26th, 2025, was officiated by Chilean referee Cristian Garay. The match was characterized by its physicality and numerous yellow cards.
A penalty converted by Salomón Rondón in the 41st minute proved to be the difference.
