Venezuela Defeats Bolivia in Maturín with Early Goals
Maturín, June 6, 2025 – The Venezuelan national team defeated Bolivia at the Estadio Monumental de Maturín in a match corresponding to the South American qualifier for the 2026 World Cup. The match, officiated by Argentinian Yael Falcón Pérez, saw La Vinotinto take control from the start.
An own goal by H. Cuellar in the 5th minute opened the scoring for Venezuela, giving the home team an early boost. Possession favored Bolivia with 58%, but Venezuela’s effectiveness was decisive. S. Rondón extended the lead in the 30th minute with a goal, consolidating Venezuelan dominance in the first half.
Despite Bolivia’s higher possession percentage, with 58% compared to Venezuela’s 42%, the shots on target reflected the superiority of the home team. Venezuela took 10 shots, 5 of which were on target, while Bolivia only managed 2 shots on goal. The match was interrupted by a total of 30 fouls, 12 committed by Venezuela and 18 by Bolivia, resulting in 3 yellow cards, one for Venezuela and two for Bolivia.
