Vasco da Gama Dominates, but Chapecoense-SC Snatch Late Draw
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – In a match held at the Estádio São Januário, Vasco da Gama and Chapecoense-SC drew 1-1. Vasco da Gama imposed their game with a dominant 67% possession and a constant offensive that generated 30 shots, 13 of which were on target. The constant pressure paid off in the 55th minute when J. Rodriguez, assisted by Andres Gomez, opened the scoring for the home team.
However, despite the dominance and the 14 corners in their favor, Vasco da Gama failed to extend their lead. Chapecoense-SC, on the other hand, fought tooth and nail, defending solidly and looking for counter-attack opportunities. Their effort was rewarded in the 90th minute when Jean Carlos, with no assist, scored a valuable goal for the final draw. Despite only having 33% ball possession, 7 total shots and no corners, they managed to take a valuable point from Rio de Janeiro.
